Weekly Challenge #70 Jan 25- Feb 1st!
Hi everyone!!!
This weeks challenge is as easy or as complicated as you want it to be!!! One of my resolutions this year, is to learn more about both my new scrapping program (PSE9) AND my usual scrapping program (SBC+) I bet I'm not the only one... right??? This weeks challenge, should you choose to accept it, will help you learn your program... if you want. Or... it will be the fastest page you'll ever scrap :lol2: Either way... its good by me!! Here are the rules: 1. Choose 1 and ONLY 1 kit to work with. OR... you can use NO KIT and make everything from scratch yourself!! 2. Create a page using ONLY the PAPERS from the kit (or your own papers designs).... NO PREMADE ELEMENTS ALLOWED!!! 3. Go CRAZY with your scrapping program. You can use ANYTHING available to you via your program on the papers.... filters, cookie cutters, textures, actions, fonts (including dingbats).... anything. Rev up that baby and see what she can do!! 4. If you want to cry now.... its ok lol!! Just post your page, and feel free to go back and change it or add stuff. Its FINE to do that!!! There are NO SCRAP POLICE here :lol2: 5. Post your LO in the gallery, forum thread, and here by midnite 2/1/11. don't forget your page needs to be Disney (or nearby parks) related. For fun (though not required) let me know what bits of your program you use... and if it was something new you tried!! 6. HAVE FUN!!! If you complete this weeks challenge... you will get a little Mickey Brad set that I made for ya! http://pixiepics.smugmug.com/photos/...63_NHqKH-M.jpg Here's my LO.... I'm going to do another.... this is very simple and I used only the shape maker (cookie cutter) tool, shadows, and a 3D filter o the Font!! http://pixiepics.smugmug.com/Scrapbo...12_Miew8-M.jpg |
What, no elements?!?! I...don't....know....if....I.....can.....do......i t!!!!!! :eek::lol:
No seriously, Paula, what a great challenge that I'm sure will get a lot of us out of our comfort zone! :thanks: Or having us doing this...:pc::lol: |
Wow, this sounds cool! (There's a 3D filter in PSE9? I could've used that yesterday! ;))
I'm really looking forward to playing around with this one! (And I think I might have to learn how to make my own flowers... :lol2:) |
Yeah.... I'll probably have people yelling at me lol!!
It's really not that difficult.... I actually CT for a designer that does almost nothing but paper... which has forced me to try and scrap this way at times. Some of my fave pages are paper only ones.... Here's a few more examples.... again... nothing used but the cookie cutter and shadows... (sorry they aren't Disney.... so they are not in the gallery) http://pixiepics.smugmug.com/Scrapbo...57_XGXZK-S.jpg http://pixiepics.smugmug.com/Scrapbo...34_zt4jn-S.jpg hehehee... I LOVE that arrow shape ;) |

I flip btween those 2 programs like CRAZY now lol! |
hmmmm...I this sure be fun...It may take me the full week to get it done, but I'm going to give it a try because I love the PP that you made...

Cheshire Cat
What a great challenge, took me a while to decide what to do. Thanks for the challenge.
I created the background papers, from colors taken out of my daughters costume. I used an overlay, that I texturized on the pink portion. On the purple pieces, I just texturized. On the title, I used a brick format to get the two-toned color lines in the lettering. Fun challenge! http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...allenge_70.jpg |
Thanks
This going to be hard for me but I am very much a beginner but I want to give this a try !!! So i'll do my best :D! This is going to be fun! I'v been trying to get the gumption up to do start learning !!! Thanks !!!!! ~Hilary~
|
Paula...you are crazy girl! How am I supposed to cluster w/o elements??? I totally understand you Jenn! Do someone know how to make rolled paper flowers from scratch????
Ok I´ll do it even if it takes me a whole week!!! |
I See Monkey Business
Thanks for hosting Paula. I used the color gradient and 3D filters on my title and the 3D filter on my elements after I used the cookie cutter on paper. I'm in the middle of trying to get Volume 1 of my Feb 2010 trip completed before the end of the month when CMs album sale ends and just happened to be working on this page.

Can we use a template?
|
love the challenge! I'm a grafic designer, but didn't use my skills the last couple of years. For me it's a great way to reconnect with photoshop. I'm already thinking what to do, but first it's time for bed and i will get to it in the morning!

I hope I did this right..I used the cookie cutter for my paper stripes, bevels for paper stripes and photo...I re-colored the alpha (this was the first time I ever did this, it was fun playing around) and also beveled it..Here's mine:

OK this page just got me, I think it´s awful but couldn´t do more. Used filters, blending modes, shapes, brushes, styles and some actions. I still think needed some of those pretty rolled flowers and curled ribbons. The papers are mine too, I made them some time ago with the intention of making a mini kit, now I remembered why I got stuck in the papers :D
And the template is mine too! http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...castle-web.jpg Image linked Thread post: http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...3117#post53117 Paula: just a reminder... I always do EASY challenges!!! :surrender: But I love your PP ...not so much the instructions though  |
Breakfast at Ohana

Paula - THANKS for this great challenge. I discovered things in my program that I didn't realize were there!
I have elements on my LO - but I made them using the custom shape tools and adding beveling and shadows. Perfect Day http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...ct_Day_web.jpg Posted in VENUE HERE |
Oh My!!!! Gotta do some serious thinking
BUt i also want to know if we can use a template. |
What are you considering the "cookie cutter"? The shapes in the Cut & Fill ribbon in SBC?
|
Paula this was amazing, Thanks for this Challenge, here is mine (Might do more later)
Did a 3D effect actually "coming out of the picture." Effect (See link below of how to do it in PSE9) http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos..._Final2600.jpg :credits: Also Here: http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...3154#post53154 To do the 3D effect in PSE9 see here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vym9kHfwyHo |

I am just AMAZED at the LOs already :yeah: I was afraid you'd all be running for the hills!! I love all the 'embellishments' I've seen ... I think we have some budding designers about!!! |
oh help:eek: i may need a while but it will be very good for me! i need to stretch myself a bit.
|
Great challenge! I confess  I am a self taught digi scrapper. There is so much more the program will do, I just need to experiment and see. :D
So thanks for pushing me to learn  This one will definitely be a challenge, but worth it! I love learning new things/techniques. |

Great challenge Paula! I used Craft Artist (the upgrade to Serif's Digital Scrapbook Artist that I just downloaded this AM). I used text on a shape, punches for the flowers and leaves, edge effect with color outline, brushes (the rope), metallic and glass effects for the lettering and the hearts, and the usual straight cuts with scissors. Great challenge, I played around with different functions, I'd used most of them before but not in a long time. I think I need to update to v9 though. Love that 3D stuff.

That was fun! I guess I used all options of photoshop....:yeah: Thx |
Ok, I copped out and went the easy route. I made 2 other LOs that were a lot more involved and I hated them. (A globe using BAS Relief and one with a reflection that just looked like all I was doing was doing it for the effect and not because it looked good.) But to compensate for going easy, I did it in 2 different programs. :D
PSE9: http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...sed-Castle.jpg I used 2 papers but one of them is the frame. I used the bevels effect to make it 3D. DSA2: http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...tys_Castle.jpg Again, 2 papers, but one is the frame This time I used the Emboss FX feature It's a lot easier to do in PSE. And they're posted here: http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...3247#post53247 |
AWESOME CHALLENGE!!! I am loving everyone's take on it!!! I hope I can squeeze some free time this weekend to work on it, dd has a basketball tournament tomorrow most of the day and her 13th bday is Sunday. Maybe on Monday:) I just got PSE9 right after it came out, but just installed it after Christmas after I got my new computer, need to learn how to do a lot of this cool stuff. Thanks for hosting a great challenge!!!:hooray::hooray::hooray:

Thanks for a fun challenge. It was a hard challenge but was fun to stretch my skills!
The paper I used is from Britt's The Bright Side. I made the frame, staples, and beads using the shape tool and then used the Wow Neon effects on them in different colors. I made the title using a Kim Possible logo. I selected the letters and used them to cut the title out of the green background paper in Britt's kit. It's nothing fancy, but it was fun! Thanks! http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...mPossiblew.jpg :credits: |
This was a great challenge. I used the shape tool for the arrow, "stitches", and film frames. I blended my photo into the background paper, too.

http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...opy_Small_.jpg i cant say i'm thrilled with it but i did learn some new techniques so thank you for pushing me way out of my comfort zone |
Alright, Paula, I have to give credit where credit is due! This was an AWESOME challenge! I admit, I fought it in the beginning, but I actually had fun trying to make some elements for this LO, and I don't hate this page, so I count that as success!
(and I'm not even going to change it to put it in m book!) http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...5/sse_copy.jpg posted here: http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...3329#post53329 :credits: |
Well, it turns out I've been dating my PSE7 for a year and I hardly know him!!! I hardly have any custom shapes to choose from for creating elements so I'm off to search. And I'm not real good with the brushes yet. So I need more tutorial help!! I ended up using lots of shapes for the papers. Here's my attempt.

wow this was really hard. i use pscs5. I used a lot of styles, custom shapes, and I created some papers. I also used a few papers from Natalies Big Cheese kit.

I made all the stuff in photoshop.
It was I opening what I can do with photoshop. I did search Google for some tutorials. It's very colorful and a bit to much, but I couldn't stop designing yesterday and I wanted to show everything! http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...nge_70_2_s.jpg http://mousescrappers.com/forums/sho...3449#post53449 |
Here is my page. This challenge really pushed me to learn how to use brushes and create custom shapes in PSE. The stars, January word art and brackets are all brushes. The flowers are custom shapes and I used a font to make my title. I made the ric-rac myself by using a rectangle shape and adding a wave and texture to it in the filter menu. I also added all of the polka dots by hand. Thanks for the challenge Paula!

Thanks for a great Challenge Paula..... I always love trying something new!
I worked with some masking and cropping and tried to keep it very simple! http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...iverboat_2.jpg :credits: |
This was such a fun challenge Paula! I used filters, warp, stroke, shape and blend.
http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...allenge-70.jpg Also posted here: http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...3487#post53487 Thanks for the PP too ;) |
Awesome Challenge! At first I was scared to try, but once I figured out the undo option I gave it a go! I used Bevel's simple sharp pillow emboss and simple sharp outer emboss, image effects - circular vignette, black stroke 40px,
photographic effects-orange tone. Custom shape tool flowers and frames. I used the Mickey Mousebats dingbats. Thank you so much for getting me way out of my comfort zone! http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...llenge-_70.jpg http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...3522#post53522 |
Animal Kingdom
