I have a Canon Powershot Elph point and shoot that I have been extremely pleased with. It is a little above the $100 mark you mentioned but as April said, perhaps you can find a deal on last year's model when they are making room for the new ones.
It does not take great night shots but that may have improved in the newer models (mine is several years old). Other than that I really have not had any complaints. It is almost always in my purse and can easily fit in a pocket if you wanted/needed.
