Pin 'trading' here on MouseScrappers

Okay, so they are virtual 'pins' and it's not really 'trading' (though you can give them away or 'sell' them back to the shop for credit towards another pin), but I hope you are enjoying this little side feature of the site nonetheless. I thought I'd start a thread here for comments or questions about the pins, and to let you know when I've put a new pin in the shop (note: the images in your signature will be slightly smaller than shown below).

Today I added an Earful Tower: http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...s/earful28.png Last week, I added the Teacups: http://mousescrappers.com/forums/xpe.../teacups24.png These are part of the "Disney Pin Collection" that anyone can redeem with post points. There are currently 27 pins in this collection, and I'm always looking for more.
I've also recently added a new category for people who have referred others to MouseScrappers. Ironically, I can't seem to buy one since I haven't technically referred anyone. So I'm hoping someone can try it out for me. You currently need to refer 2 people to get one of these (they must write your name down when they register). There are two pins in this category now. Cinderella's Castle: http://mousescrappers.com/forums/xpe...dwcastle32.png and the Tree of Life: http://mousescrappers.com/forums/xpe...cons/TOL26.png
While not new, there is a Tinkerbell pin http://mousescrappers.com/forums/xpe...ns/tbell26.png that is available to anyone who links to MouseScrappers.com. Thanks so much! It's helping to get the word out about our community, and I think it's improving the site's visibility on Google. Click here to pickup this pin.
And, as a small thank you to anyone who lets me book their vacation, here is Steamboat Willie http://mousescrappers.com/forums/xpe...eamboatw32.png from the 1928 classic animated short. He is very special to me since he represents a major breakthrough for Walt and the world of animation and entertainment in general... a foreshadowing of great things to come. I wanted to use something personally special to me to express my gratitude.
I came across a pin today that I've never seen before that is totally cute (and more importantly looks good in miniature size)... but I'm going to keep it under wraps until I think of a good opportunity to release it.

The pin/achievement/experience system is not perfect, and unfortunately we have to live with the imperfections (and the inability to make modifications). Still, I hope you find this 'just for fun' feature of MouseScrappers pleasant. Thanks so much for being active members of the site!

Note: Info about this system can be found here in the FAQ's.

I'm such a ditz. So, this is what all the points are for! Doh!

Very fun and very cool idea!

Ok, I feel like a dork, but I have a question...

I have points ( not a lot) but when I go to buy a pin it says I have NO points at all?? Ideas?

QuiltyMom 05-16-2010 11:57 AM

Now I feel "accessorized"! Yay! That was some fun shopping!

I know it's a little confusing. You currently have 104 'Points for posts' (I can see this in your profile and clicking on the "Experience" tab). The points that show under your signature is larger because you get points for other things (days online, filling out a profile, etc). You have enough to get one pin so far (they are 100 points each).

There are currently 5 categories of pins. Everyone can 'buy' pins with their 'points for posts' from the "Disney Pin Collection" and the Holiday and Misc pin categories. You'll need to refer 2 people to get any pins from the 'Referral' collection. And the last one is reserved for special pins that I (or the moderators) want to give out. So if you see a '0' showing there is either a problem with the counter and I need to run the recalculate function, or perhaps you are looking at one of the other categories that you don't have points for? Which category were you looking at?

Hope that helps...

I love the little pins. Very fun idea for the board, Carol. I'm aiming for the castle and the teacups next. :)

Thanks for explaining! I was looking at the disney pin category, but your right, at the time I was looking, I didn't have enough points . I just thought i did because of my counter. It's all gravy now :) Thanks!

I love the pins. :D If you're having problems, make sure you're signed in! Sometimes when I've gone to the pin page, I get logged out for some reason, and then it'll say I don't have any points. ;)

I see you have a new pin in your signature so I guess it worked. :hooray: Let me know if you encounter any issues trying to get a pin.

Interesting... I hadn't heard that yet but will take note. Hopefully it is not happening too much.
