Weekly Challenge #89 (6/8 - 6/14)

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #89!!!

For me it really are the little things that make Disney special, so the theme of this weekly challenge is to scrap about the little things in a land or area of one of the parks. For example: Adventureland, Pixar Place, Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Germany or Main street just to name a few! Your pictures have to show the attributes, scenery or details that are typical for the land your scrapping about. I don’t want to see any scrapping about an attraction, a show, a character or a parade!

Here are the other instructions you have to follow:

1. I want to see 2 seperate clusters. Both clusters need to have the
following elements:
  • 1 picture
  • 2 ribbons/ricracs
  • 2 strings
  • 4 flowers
  • A title
  • Some kind of greenery/foliage
  • 2 paperstrips
  • 1 frame
  • 2 buttons/brads
  • Stitching
you may skip two of the above dots if you want! The numbers of
elements listed are the minimum, you may add more and other elements if
you wish!
2. Show me at least one cutout!
3. Because the pp is a date element pack I want to see a date!!
4. Tomorrow is Donald Ducks 77th birthday, let’s celebrate that by adding an
element or a color that has something to do with Donald!
5. Add journaling if you wish and shadow!

I made a tutorial about cut outs, you can check it in this thread. It's splitted into three subjects: Element & text cut outs, marquee cut outs and shape cut outs. TanyaH666 made a tutorial a while ago about clustering which you can find in this thread.

Just a little note: If something doesn't succeed on your page, please don't be discouraged and just post your layout!! I know I made a difficult challenge  and I don't want anyone to be discouraged and don't get that pp!!

The general rules:
1) LO should be Disney (or nearby theme park) related.
2) It must be uploaded to the MouseScrappers Gallery in the Weekly Challenge category before the deadline.
3) Your layout must be posted in two (2) places: in the challenge thread (here) and in the appropriate forum thread, and please don´t forget to put this last link in your post here!
4) And try to leave some love for other pages in this challenge. We all like encouragement!!!!!

This is what I made:

Thanks for the challenge, Patty and also to Keystone Scraps! I'm so glad you had us include a cut out. I've liked them and never realized how easy they are to do. Your instructions were great! Making the cut outs were actually the easy part. Trying to get everything else on 8.5x10 was the hard part. :)

Yep.... they are very easy in SBC!
this is the simplest way... to make a basic (non-custom) shape cutout!

If you want a basic shape, select your paper layer that you want to make the cut out in .

The go to the cut and fill ribbon... select square/circle or the 'shape' button.

Cut out your shape

Then select the paper with the shape cut out... and go to format, and add a shadow to the paper.

ta-da!

buffy0214 06-12-2011 04:49 PM

Okay, well I started this challenge before reading thouroughly:whistle: I'm not sure how much of the criteria I met but this one took me all day and I'm done so I want to post it anyway:):thanks: If I have time I'll try again with actually following the directions:rolleyes:

My page features the decor on Main Street in Autumn.

I think I managed to get everything except the paper strips in. My little bit of Donald is the blue string and clip connecting the clusters together.
