Weekly Challenge #52 (9/15-9/21)
Hi everyone! I'm posting a bit early because I need to get this done now. Hope that doesn't bug anyone :)
It's my daughter's birthday today and I've been thinking a lot about why I scrapbook and what it means to me. My siggie says, "Life is about Love and Scrappin' is my documentation of that Love." I am feeling like I need to focus in on that thought more - specifically scrapping the really important and meaningful things in life. And Disney is one of those things for me - and I'm sure for you too - if you are reading this :) So this week, we are going to focus on Meaningful Moments or Magical Moments at Disneyland. The only rule is that your layout should be about something meaningful to you that is Disney related. It can be a page about something special that happened at a Disney Park or it can be home related like a special costume or souvenir. Or just a layout about what Disney means to you - what is it you love about Disneyland or a favorite part? It's really open and really simple but hopefully it will inspire you to do a layout you will treasure. 1. Scrap a meaningful page that is Disney related. 2. Upload your Layout to the MouseScrappers Gallery in the Weekly Challenge category. 3. Then, using the gallery link, post your layout in two places: in this challenge thread, and in the appropriate forum. 4. Leave praise for fellow competitors! Here's my pages that I made when I was thinking about this challenge. One of the things I really love about Disneyland is that it doesn't matter how old you are! You can get an autograph with a character at any age. These pages are about a special moment with Goofy when he was giving my hubby a hard time giving the sharpie pen back :) It was so fun to see Goofy doing that to a Dad. My pages are called, "You've been punked, no you've been Goofed!" http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...beengoofed.jpg http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...fwithgoofy.jpg Made using Natalie's new kit out tomorrow "Well Whattya Know" If you follow all of the rules, I have a prize package for ya! I made a Princess kit to scrap my daughter's princess birthday cake. So, my PP is the kit I made called Princess Chloee. Here it is: http://www.myotherdrive.com/dyn/file...schloeekit.jpg And a page I made with it: http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...cesschloee.jpg Hope you like it! And I hope you scrap something meaningful to you. :scrapbooking: |

Goofy's Kitchen Dinner is one of our favorites. I love this challenge! :yeah: I have been wanting to scrap one of my favorite Disney Memories, but I was waiting until I had a little more experience digi scrapping, I wanted to do it justice! Now that the book is almost done, and with the push of your challenge, I think I can do it!

Thank you for giving me a way to use this journaling. I didn't know how I was going to get the point across so I put it off until this challenge. thank you so much! This is in memory of my son Jonathon whom I never was able to hold while he was alive. He is alive in our hearts and now I realize he is alive in Haley's heart also.

I think we're going to need a big box of tissues for this weekly challenge. Great idea for a weekly challenge Denise, and such a stunning Aurora layout! Thanks for a pretty PP.
The journalling stories above are so touching and heartfelt. I'll bet some of you were in tears as you were writing that text, I know I did when reading them!. Wonderful stories, thank you for sharing them! |
Thanks Denise for the great challenge. I can't wait to get home and work on this LO this weekend. I know exactly what I want to scrap.
Great LO's thus far and some very touching journaling. Thank you all for sharing and inspiring me. Thanks again. Melinda |
My layout
I posted this in the main entrance forum as well. http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...9217#post39217 Here's my layout. I found a bunch of pictures that my mom had packed away. We took trips every year to Disney World and always took our family picture in the main entrance. This was our last family trip. But I'm blessed that my parent's are able to get along well now and still get to go to Disney World with both parent's. My dad lives in Florida and meets us for dinner one night while we're there. Thank you for the challenge. I'm eventually going to get all of the old pictures scrapped. http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...out_1_res2.png |
Thanks Denise for the challenge...Now all I have to do is figure out what favorite memory of Disney I want to scrap...We go to WDW every year, and our first trip was back in 1973 when my DD was 3 & my DS just turned 1...:) Also, I love the PP for this challenge...

It took me all day yesterday to get all the pics on the page and write the story but I did it! :hooray:
I am not sure if I overdid the pixie dust? I think I need a few opinions on that one. Thank you for a great challenge and an amazing PP :thanks: I am so excited to have finished this LO! I agree with Linda we all need tissues next to our computers this week! The story's have been wonderful - thank you everyone for sharing. Journal Text is under the LO for easier reading http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...ate-page-1.jpghttp://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...ate-page-2.jpg :credits: Journal Reads: As soon as Alex saw Silvermist coming over she ran right up to her, but she was too excited to even take her hand much less really enjoy any time with her. She kept pointing out Tinkerbell, she was in constant motion, she could not relax enough to even take a picture. Mommy had to bring her back to Silvermist to finally get her picture taken. Then Tink came over and took her by the hand to the middle of the room. After one quick hug she spotted Fawn and the excited energy took over again. Alex had to make sure Tink realized Fawn was there by pointing her out. Then Tink surprised us by calling Fawn over, they all sat down and played a game of “peek-a-boo.” After a minute Alex remembered Silvermist was there too, so she had to inform Tink her other friend was in the room. Tink really surprised us this time by taking Alex by the hand through the crowd that was forming, watching this little show, back to Silvermist to take more pictures! Once they came back we finally got a picture of the two “Tinks,” then Fawn called her over to show Alex her tea cup. While exploring the cup Tink decided to surprise her with a little game of “Guess Who.” After a minute Fawn pointed out her spool of thread and these fast friends were off to play. They found Mickey shaped pixie dust! Tink even had to come over to have a look at this oddity. Alex was having so much fun she did not want to stop for pictures instead she wanted to see in the Tea cup again. Eventually Fawn asked her for a hug, and surprise, There was Tink calling her name from behind the camera! WOW, Alex gave us one of her best smiles of the whole trip!! After another hug and much waiving and kiss blowing we eventually brought this amazing pixie play date to a close. Once outside other guests were asking for my email so they could send me the pictures they had been taking of Alex. They had loved watching her interact with the fairies and had to take some pictures for themselves. Alex must have spent almost 20 minutes playing and enjoying her time in Pixie Hollow. The fairies were amazing with her, initiating her exploration and never leaving her side! They were the ones who kept the play date going and were just as sad to see it end. This is one line where we will never complain about the wait. The attention they gave Alex made her whole trip, she was still talking about it days later! They gave her the time to get past her initial shock and excitement at seeing them and allowed her the chance to actually enjoy their company. The fairies permanently endeared themselves to our family and gave us one of our favorite Disney memories! I think your layout is perfect and the pixie dust is just right. I'm not able to comment on any of the layouts in the gallery :( It will start to log in, saying logging in as amyjo76 but then it gets to the gallery and I'm not logged in. It started doing it yesterday and I thought it would be better today but it's not. Anyone know what I should do?

Our daughter was adopted from China as a baby, and we traveled back to China for the first time with Adventures by Disney this past summer. The whole trip was so meaningful to me, but especially the Great Wall.

Thanks Denise
Its a beutiful pp :) http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos/data/575/WC_52.JPG Journaling says: "We went to Magic Kingdom on my birthday in 2008. After breakfast at Crystal Palace we went to wander off in Fantasyland, so the boys would try again to take the sword out of the stone. Then a cast member, Marion, approached us. We started chatting, and she saw my birthday button. Then she turned to my son and said that he wasn't saying the right words to get the sword out. After she taught him ....the sword comes out. Every boy around was looking at Lucas, and he was thrilled. After that, Marion took us all to ride Peter Pan without going in line, and it was a 40 min wait that day. It was a magical birthday." Here is my first posting ever at Mouse Scrappers. I am new to digiscrapping and I am in the process of learning PSE 7. I hope I am doing this correctly. My husband and I got an evening just to ourselves and it was wonderful. I also put this in the Tomorrowland gallery. I was inspired to try by the lovely posting gift.
I am inspired also by the posts that I am seeing in this thread. Its amazing how each person translates their experiences into art. Thanks. http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...ited-1-1-1.jpg |
My special moment - meeting Imagineer Joe Rhode (the genius behind Expedition Everest and Aulani).
http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos...-rhode-web.jpg This was on a cruise ... so I'll try to find a DCL thread to post this on.:cool: |
