Weekly Challenge #191 (6/26 to 07/09)

http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...9&postcount=63Hi, folks! Yes.. this is a TWO week challenge because of the holiday!!

For the rules...

1. All layouts MUST be Disney related
2. Layouts should be uploaded to the MouseScrappers Gallery, the appropriate forum for your layout, and a link posted in this thread!
3. Use of quick pages is NOT allowed! You have to work for that PP! :scrapbooking:

Here are the rules of the challenge:

We're going to try something a little different. I will be giving you a color palette and your mission is to use at least THREE colors from that palette in your layout. This doesn't mean photos.. it means the colors of your papers and elements. Please remember to give proper credits to all designer whose product you may use, and you may mix and match so long as you use three colors. (You may use all of the colors, the minimum is three.) You may use other colors, but again.. you must THREE of the palette colors.

That said.. here is your color palette to work with for this challenge! Isn't Maleficent just beautiful? As your layouts will be with her colors!

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/f...1.jpg~original

Upon completion of your layout, you will receive this lovely mini kit (Pixie Dust)from Connie Prince.

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/f...6.jpg~original

Remember.. we have two weeks this time around! I am really looking forward to seeing your layouts. Again, I do post them on Pinterest.. if anyone objects to this, please include this right along with your post.

I'll be back later on to post my layout!! Post any questions you may have in the thread!

ADDITION TO THIS CHALLENGE: SEE POST 63 FOR PART TWO!

I like the theme and the kit is very nice.

Nice! I can't wait to have a few minutes to play! I love the color palette but how do I get those exact colors in my LO? I'm still fairly new at this.

3BluEyedBabies 06-26-2013 07:39 AM

Thanks!

Thanks for hosting, Laramie and the prize is just perfect! Thanks so much for contributing, Connie!!

Angiea1114 06-26-2013 07:45 AM

Question

I am also very new to digital scrapping. I would love to earn the pixie dust kit so the two weeks should give me plenty of time to figure out how to post to a gallery! I know you said quick pages are not allowed. Is the use of templates allowed? Thanks for clarifying!

Angie

Well, I am new but as Connie is a neighbor and a friend and I LOVE Disney and Tinkerbell...I HAVE to have another CP/Disney themed kit, so I am on the job today. And I have the perfect Disney themed kit I can use!

Thanks for hosting and thanks Connie for the PP. Love me some Connie Prince.

What I do is keep the color palette handy and start looking through my stash. I open the paper and move it so it touches the palette. If it is close.. it's a winner!!

Most designers use color palettes when designing their kits. So if you find papers that match the color palette... the elements should fall right into line.

I hope this makes sense!! Just get close as you can to the colors of the palette!! And you will be golden! :hooray:

Yes.. you may indeed use templates! (Don't forget to check out our template challenges in fact!)

Get your layout ready. If you have trouble uploading, holler. I'm sure one of us will give you a hand up!

Welcome aboard, Tattered Princess!! By the way.. the kit you use.. does not have to be Disney themed!! One of the things Connie admires about me is my ability to take just about any kit and scrap a Disney layout! So Disney themed or not... have fun!!

Well, I no longer have any of my photos from when my "first love" took my to Disney back in 1995. My very jealous ex husband when I was married 13 years ago stole the photo album and destroyed it. But I have 2 Tinkerbell themed kits that will work perfect for this with the colors that I have. So I will just scrap me a new Facebook timeline set with them as well with this challenge. :)

Just remember to match the colors of the challenge, Tattered Princess. Tinkerbell has a different color palette than Maleficent. And those are my two personal favorite characters! Tink and Maleficent. Yes.. I love the villains. And Tink is indeed a villain! Look at what she did to Peter? LOL.

So sorry to hear about the overly jealous ex. If anyone took my Disney albums, I would probably have to kill them. Or least do some very serious damage in return!

Thanks for the great challenge! I had the perfect pictures I wanted to scrap.

Layout with matching Facebook timeline banner using Kellybell's kit Flitterific and Natalie's Place Designs kit Believe for the Weekly Challenge June 26, 2013. This is my take on the challenge. Totally opposite theme but still follows the color palette given.

I no longer have any of my own Disney photos so I used this one from a site from a link provided by someone in the forum.

At last minute, a design friend sent me a pic of her little girl with Tinkerbell to use (so please do not share this outside the forum) and a long time friend since high school sent me a pic of her little one wearing her Tinkerbell dress (so please don't share hers either). You can see both those at these two links. Just thought I would include them as they were both totally adorable! I've been working on the set since last night, didn't think I'd ever get done! :cheshire_bounce:

So VERY lovely, Tattered Princess!! And yes, it does meet the color palette! Will send you the PP via private message. May I post the Tinkerbell layout on Pinterest? (Not the link ones.. just the one with Tinkerbell.)

TheTatteredPrincess 06-27-2013 10:58 AM

Sure! Absolutely, please do! More than welcome to do so. Just posted them on my personal and design pages...my friends are all wanting a set! LOL

TheTatteredPrincess 06-27-2013 10:59 AM

And thank you!!! And a HUGE thank you to my friend and neighbor CONNIE!!! MUAH GIRLY!!!! Loving this kit, I wasn't missing it for nothing! Glad to find a new place to scrap. ;)

tinkerbell1112 06-27-2013 11:38 AM

LOVE that color palatte!! Everyone was so fast in their layout. :) I hope to create something tomorrow - I'm unexpectedly in a house by myself for Friday evening - son and husband are going to a baseball game and while I invited a friend of my daughters to spend the night, the mom pulled a switcharoo on me and said she really wants my daughter over there - LOL. I will certainly be trying to find something i can create with these colors!

And we're very glad you are here, Tattered Princess! I'll be hosting more challenges in the future with PP's from Connie. So keep an eye on us. :yeah:

Plenty of time! This challenge is a TWO week challenge due to the holiday. And yes.. layouts are popping up quickly! Trying to figure out how to keep you all amused for two weeks!

Maybe I'll post a second challenge a little later, but I won't have another prize. They figured it would be quiet over the holiday... so we wanted to give lots of time for this awesome PP from Connie Prince.

I do like this color challenge though! It is interesting to see the varied takes on the challenge.. and all of them meeting the palette!

roxana 06-29-2013 07:52 AM

Mine, I think Im good with the black, green and pink, thanks for hosting Laramie and Connie for the PP!

I really like Maleficent right now. It's a beautiful layout, but does not get even close to the color palette presented.

When completing a color challenge, you want to be very, very close to the colors presented.

I used a utility called Digital Color Meter to duplicate the two colors along with their RGB values. First: 195 0 139 Second 222 63 142.

I'm really very sorry, Roxana. I don't feel it is even close. However, in the spirit of fairness, I will leave it up to those who have already completed their layouts to decide. I will drop them all a note and ask them to come review your layout.

djp332 06-29-2013 06:00 PM

Any other color challenge that i have done, mostly every month at Scrap Orchard, any shade of the specified colors can be used.

So, what I'm saying is this - What's the big deal? I see pink, black and green. This is scrapbooking. Not a gold medal sport.

djp332 06-29-2013 07:12 PM

This is really bugging me. You said this previously. Just get as close as you can.

I looked at the color challenge at Scrap Orchard. It specifically says you don't have to match, any shade is fine. I did not make that qualifier, nor do I do challenges any where else that would allow that. Why bother posting shades instead of just saying red, gray, blue for instance? This being a two week challenge, I picked a tougher one. Close is one thing, but any shade is another.

I mean, why not just say - post any old layout if that was the case? Challenges do have a point to them.

Close is one thing. Any shade is another. Everyone has lots of kits. The hope was for people not to rush into a layout, but to take time to look for that close.
Mixing and matching kits if needed.

However, I stand by my decision to let you all have input and I dropped Connie a note for hers. You may be "bugged" by this, but I am as well. I don't see the close at all. And that was the challenge.

So, let's not argue that point. Just get the input. I can live with that. Hopefully, you can as well.

djp332 06-29-2013 07:19 PM

Well, you asked for our opinions and I gave you mine. I don't make the rules, but I do follow them when asked to. I'm curious to see if anyone else who did this challenge will respond and what their opinions are.

ScrappyCoyote 06-29-2013 07:25 PM

I did receive a response via PM (which I said was perfectly fine.) Their suggestion is to let Connie decide since she is the designer. I responded with I already contacted Connie earlier today for her input. This being a weekend, she is probably busy with family stuff, but she will get back to me soon. I have faith in that!

Sagediva2 06-29-2013 08:18 PM

I agree let Connie decide. Overall the pink doesn't match the colors given but if you look at some of the elements she used I believe the colors in them are much closer to the given colors. For example, I believe the pink stripes and hearts on the balloons are pretty close to the pink color given.

enjoyyourpix 06-29-2013 09:00 PM

:( I was just looking through at the challenges. I haven't participated much, but this sure doesn't make me want to!!! Yikes!! Not cool at all!!
