Star Wars / Make-A-Wish Fundraiser update... goodies added!

We've been doing pretty well on our fundraiser so far with just shy of 7 weeks until the Course of the Force event wraps up. To reiterate what this is about...

EVENT NAME: Course of the Force

EVENT DATE: July 9-16, 2013

ORGANIZATION BENEFITING FROM THIS EVENT: The Make-A-Wish Foundation

EVENT DESCRIPTION: On the heels of last year’s monumental, first-of-its-kind event, Course of the Force, the lightsaber run that captivated the attention of Star Wars™ fans around the world, is returning July 9th – 16th, 2013. Kicking off at the famed Skywalker Ranch, participants will continue the relay run down through San Francisco with several stops along the California coastline before reaching the finish line— arriving just in time for the start of the 2013 San Diego Comic-ConĀ® International. Nerdist Industries’ founder Chris Hardwick will be back to host the event, with city-stops along the way featuring “Conivals” where fans can celebrate their love of the Saga with live entertainment, expo booths, giveaways and much more.

CURRENT AMOUNT CONTRIBUTED BY OUR MOUSESCRAPPERS COMMUNITY: (see the ticker in my signature)

To help MouseScrappers raise money for Make-A-Wish, we've had several members of our community come forward and contribute some goodies for the donors.

--------------------------- > FUNDRAISER INCENTIVES< ----------------------------------

EXTRA #1 - Prize for 1 winner
Kilted Candyman crafted this amazing "Gents" knife by hand. He designed it especially for this fundraiser, with the thought that it would make a nice gift for someone special (husband, father, brother, etc). The blade is 5"-6" in length and will have a sheath (still working the details out on the sheath). He is 'raffling' it off - donors will have 1 chance for each $5 donation a person makes to our campaign (e.g. a $5 donation will have one entry, a $15 donation will have 3 entries, etc)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EXTRA #2 - Prize for 1 winner
Michelle from Mad for the Mouse Designs is raffling off her entire store. One lucky winner will receive a code that can be used to download every item in Michelle's store. For ever dollar donated she will throw your name in a hat. For example, if you donate $5, she'll put you name in 5 times. If you donate $10, your name goes in 10 times.

EXTRA #3 - giftie for all donors
Wendy of Neverland Scraps created this fantastic digiscrap kit inspired by our favorite sci-fi adventure. :r2d2: As a way to express our appreciation for your contribution, each person who donates to this fundraising campaign will receive this kit:

Update June 11: I finished my costume! Well, I still want to make a few minor changes, but here I am last Saturday at a Navy hospital (at a benefit picnic for NICU survivors). I am the black/red Mandalorian on the far left (Boba Fett called me his cousin, lol)

Wonderful idea. I will be happy to donate.

Maddies Gran 06-02-2013 08:43 PM

Where do I make a donation? I went to the MSstayclassy fundraiser page but couldn't find a link to make a donation.

There is a gold rectangle kind of near the top center of the center of the screen, just to the right off our "ms" logo.

Thanks!

Maddies Gran 06-02-2013 09:40 PM

Thanks Carolc..... The link didn't show on my laptop - it was just blank next to MS. The web page said I needed to update my web browser so I guess that's the reason. I did make a donation from my Ipad.

Carolc 06-02-2013 11:28 PM

Thank you so much! :)

luv2scrapmm 06-08-2013 10:20 AM

I can't wait to see pictures from the event!
:jedi1: May the force be with you!!

Carol ~ I think it's great that you're planning this.
I just wanted to let you know that a group from our church is walking in a Make-A-Wish this upcoming weekend and I've sponsored one of the members. If I hadn't pledged for them, I would've pledged for you.
Good luck!

Carolc 06-11-2013 06:57 AM

Thanks, everyone. :) I've sent out Planet Wars to everyone who has donated so far. If you don't see it, check your spam folder (from shop (at) mousescrappers.com). If you still don't see it PM me :)

Mini-update... I am finished with my costume and used it to 'troop' in two charity events last Saturday. It was soooo much fun interacting with the kids! I've borrowed a Tusken Raider costume for 3 other events, but it was so much nicer wearing something that I made myself (and it fits me much better... and I can see much better). I added a couple photos to the first post. This costume is a Mandalorian, which is from the planet Mandalore (where Boba Fett / Jango Fett are from). They don't appear in the 6 movies, but appear in the Clone Wars animated series as well as some comic books. I rather enjoy stepping outside my normal girlie life and playing a (male) bounty hunter, lol - not sure why, I guess I'm just a Star Wars nerd.

Love it Carol!! Star Wars nerd :lol2:

Is there an area to post LOs using Planet Wars. I will of course, put it in the appropriate sub-forum, but thought that it would make a nice challenge, too! (Getting the word out as well).

I would love to see it!!!
I've not seen this kit in use yet . . . .

meagan43 06-24-2013 10:48 AM

I thought that I had posted my LO, but I guess that I got distracted after posting my comment

I posted it now in the Star War TAC page:

Thanks so much for the cute gift for donating. It was perfect for my rather boring pictures of waiting in the dark part of the queue.

Just dropping in to bump up the knife :D

This model is a Gent's EDC (Everyday Carry) that goes very well for those situations where the bowie just seems a little bit out of place. Originally designed to go with suits it works well in any situation calls for a little something to cut with.

The blade is CPM-154, an American made stainless steel. Bolsters and pins are 416 stainless. The handle material is Desert Ironwood burl, an extremely rare wood as not only does Desert Ironwood rarely burl it is also a protected species here and in Mexico. The only way to legally gather the wood is from dead falls. It then takes up to ten years to dry enough for use. This is the second densest wood in the world and has a beauty to match. The pieces on this blade are presentation quality, the highest. The picture doesn't truly capture the fire in the wood.

And don't let the guys have all the fun, this fits in a Lady's hand or purse just as well

Jim - that's a beautiful knife! My dad collects pocket knives and they can be so lovely. Truly works of art!

Thanks to our generous MouseScrappers designers and friends who have donated these awesome incentive prizes!
