Changes to BLT Coming!
I just saw this on the DVCnews website and apparently it will have information in the new Disney Files when it arrives...
"Plans call for crews to move one of the kitchenette sinks into the bathroom, add a lock to the bathroom door and a full-length mirror to the kitchenette, and tighten a small identified gap in the bathroom door. Other Bay Lake Tower enhancements scheduled for completion this fall include a new jogging path and fire pit." I'm so glad for the locked doors!!

Thanks for sharing the news. I have toured the rooms at BLT, but have not stayed there. There is no lock on the bathroom doors? I wonder what their reasons were for not putting them in to begin with.

But what I did notice is the that bathroom sinks are super high. I thought I was planning ahead when I packed a step stool for DD (3yo) to use so she could reach the sink to wash her hands. But even with that she couldn't reach the water. The imagineers that designed/decorated these villas just didn't think of all types of families. The whole building is geared toward families with older children/parties without children. Though we enjoyed the proximity to MK, I'm glad (at this point) that we haven't purchased points there.

I'm glad that you shared this info, Robin... this is really good to know. In fact, I think I'd like to start a new thread with info like this.
ETA: Robin, can you please add your story about the sinks to this new thread here? Things like this would be helpful for people who are trying to select a resort to stay at. Thanks!

We stayed in a 1-bed room also. The "guest bathroom" door slides open and closed and has a gap on the sides. So when someone is, uhh...how do I put this, using the restroom all sounds can be audible to all in the kitchen and living area. We also have little ones that took advantage of the lack of locks and tried to put their arms thru the gap in the sliding bathroom door. Glad to read Disney is addressing the problem!
We didn't know the Castle remains on the color rotation ALL NIGHT. Our little ones didn't want to miss a color. We told them the castle would be their night light but didn't they didn't buy it so we had to close the drapes. BLT really is an amazing place. Thanks Robin for the update! I also receive DVC news but I guess I missed that update. |

Okay, so I'm reading through the Disney Files Magazine right now and I've come to the blurb about this change at BLT. I just realized that it's only affecting the studio accomodations, or as they're calling these rooms now Deluxe Studio. So that means anyone NOT in a studio will still have to deal with no locks on the bathroom doors. Maybe there'll be a phase 2???
