Brazil as the new pavillion?
I just read this on WDWNews Today
http://wdwnewstoday.com/archives/6924 TRANSLATION: Brazil got a great seat at an International forum with Disney. Representatives of the largest complex of theme parks in the world sought the federal government this week to announce that are going to install a pavilion of Brazil at Epcot in Orlando. I get really mixed feelings when i read something like that, because in less than 1 hour, i read all sort of bashing threads, like if this brings more brazilians to Disney then its a big NO NO NO. I once was very combative and defensive when i read something like that, but i know also that tour groups annoy anyone, but there are millions of ways to avoid them, and not blame a whole country. And certainly its not an excuse to trash and treat us all badly. Believe me i had some bad experiences, but as i am the only one that speaks english in family i just let it go. So as the article says it wont be the first time that a pavillion was announced and not built.... |

Hi Ana Carol,
I don't know what you've read, but I'm sure that the number of people who have expressed 'concern' is a very small percentage of the total population. I think they are taking a pessimistic attitude and wasting their time with needless worry and speculation. Personally, I would welcome a new pavilion, and in case those people haven't noticed, South America is grossly underrepresented at EPCOT (zero permanent areas and just a booth or two during the Food and Wine Festival?). I think Brazil would be a great choice. Do you want to hear my own generalization about people in Brazil? I'm convinced that there are a lot of good looking people there, and that any country that can play beach volleyball with their feet has got to be a country that is very passionate about fitness, sports, and activity. See now I'm guilty of stereotyping. Sorry, I got off topic. I know you are super nice (online and in person) - that's good enough for me to think that many people are just as nice as you. Try not to let their comments bother you. I'm sure anything Disney does always has its share of naysayers. (totally unrelated, but I even met a guy who hates free dining - bottom line, you can't please everyone). I say, bring on Brazil!

Thanks Carol, its nice to hear people saying some good impressions.
It used to me bother a lot more, i used to go in long arguments, now it doesnt bother me as much, still its not nice when you hear people saying that Disney should stop advertising at Brazil, so attendance would go low on brazilians, or countless threads on brazilian tour groups. Thats one of the main reasons i quit reading the disboards For me, i guess would be nice having a South American Country in Epcot, Brazil or Peru (si Roxana ) or Colombia, or actually any other country added to World Showcase would be nice. |

I would love to see South America represented in World Showcase!
As to the Brazilian tour groups, Disney should crack down on ANYONE who's being disruptive. I don't care if they're from Brazil or outer space, it's not fair to the rest of their paying clientele. The tour operators who bring them, participate, and encourage that behavior should be penalized too. Ana-Carol, I'll hang out with you and your family anytime!

I actually have no idea how disruptive the brazilian tour groups are, cause when we spot one, we literally go the other way. Plus we have been at Disney in off season periods, so there werent that many. We never got to see any chanting or anything that people usually complain about.
Oh Kimberly we definately should hang out |

Brazil would be an awesome pavilion. I don't know anything about the tour groups but as long as they aren't behaving like some people do at the soccer games (and it's not only one nationality) I would think they could be tolerated or avoided. I wonder when it would be built?

And you know what? I have had experiences with all of the above-mentioned groups. And out of all those groups, I have personally experienced the least disruption from the Brazilian tour groups and have never understood what all the complaints about them were about. I would welcome a pavilion from Brazil (or Peru or Colombia or even a combo of them sharing) - how cool would that be?!! And how about Russia? Africa? Down Under? It's a shame that there's not enough space for more pavilions. |

Hummmm Donna you read my thoughts, Russia or Australia would be an awesome pavillion
April, as where it could be built, im thinking maybe the outpost, since the Africa Pavillion was never built and now its really well represented in AK, or the Millenium Village. |

We've encountered far more problems with the cheerleading/Pop Warner groups than with Brazilian tour groups. Maybe it's the time we normally go? It's those covered/enclosed queues, where their voices echo so loudly. That and the walking eight abreast down the streets, swinging their arms to their cheers.
I think it's the whole group mentality thing. The best of kids can get out of hand when they're in a group.
