Jambo pool to be lightened

"Disney World's Animal Kingdom Lodge pool will no longer resemble an African watering hole"

"Disney World's Animal Kingdom Lodge pool will close in January 2010 in order to make the pool safer for guests. The pool, which was designed to resemble an authentic African watering hole, has a dark bottom that gives the pool the look of mineral water.

According to Disney World lifeguards who work at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, the pool's dark water makes it difficult for life guards to see people or objects on the bottom of the pool. This is the main reason the pool is being refurbished....."

Well... I understand it needs to be done... however... that means it will be closed while we are there!

If it’s any consolation, my kids and I actually preferred Kidani’s pool over Jambo’s. The slide is soooo cool! I swear it takes 30 seconds to slide down (when you are at the top, you can’t see the bottom). The play area was cool, too (even though my kids are a little too old for it). We still enjoyed squirting each other with the water cannons. I noticed that there were some events planned at the pool in the afternoons, but we never made it, though I wish we could have. And one final element that I didn’t notice at Jambo… themed music. Very cool African music to go along with the atmosphere. Oh, and it’s smaller, so could be more crowded than normal. Still, you gotta try it at least once during your visit.

Ya, hopefully Haley will agree. LOL She thought this one was cool because it looked like a watering hole. But she'll be 4... when she sees the other pool I am sure she won't care anymore. LOL
