Design Challenge #19 - December 2014/January 2015 - THEME
Theme for Design Challenge #19 - December 2014/January 2015
Let's do something a little different... This challenge is going to be a journal card challenge (inspired by the pocket book scrapbooking trend). The theme is GENERAL DISNEY VACATION. Submissions should consist of 5-25 unique journal cards (3x4" and/or 4x6"). You may also include smaller "tag or sticker/stamp cards" or embellishments with your 5-25 journal cards. Cards and tags may be predominantly blank with a title, lines, and/or small graphic or may be filled with one or more graphics and/or text. Try to make your submission fit a specific subtheme or subthemes such as: weather, days of the week/time of day, photo catch phrases ("Say cheese", "Picture perfect"), transportation/travel, activities (swimming, games), fireworks, parades, shows, character meet&greet, food/dining, etc. and let us know what you are doing in this thread so there aren't a lot of duplicates. We would like to have two pocket style templates as well. Please respect the copyright of Project Life and Project Mouse designers and make this collab unique. There is no specific color palette this time; use any colors you wish, just make sure your submission fits the above-listed theme. This will be a TWO month challenge. Deadline - Friday, January 30 (by 11:59pm CST) Reveal and Blog Hop on Friday, February 13. As you are planning your contribution, please look through the things others are making so the kit doesn't have a lot of duplicate items. We want this kit to have tons of variety! Try something new, learn a new technique, and stretch your boundaries a little! Check out this thread for resources, tutorials, tips, and tricks for designers. We would like to include two templates in this kit. A PhotoShop template with at least 25 layers will fulfill the minimum submission requirement. You should submit both a layered PhotoShop document and untrimmed PNG files named 1,2,3,4,5,etc. The first two people to send me a PM indicating a desire to create a template for this month’s challenge will be listed below. Template 1: murmer Template 2: larkd Submission Guidelines:
IMPORTANT: You may NOT include:
The following website has a searchable database where you can look to see if a name/phrase is trademarked: http://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/index.jsp *** If there are any questions about minimum requirements or copyright infringement, please ask. *** Files and Zipped Folder(s): Naming your files:Your MS username_DC#_element type_descriptionPaper Example: MMouse_DC50_paper_green.jpg Naming your folder(s):If your username is longer than 8 characters, please use an abbreviation. Avoid using spaces anywhere in the file/folder name. If you design under a different name, you may use that name instead of your MouseScrappers name.Your MS username_DC# Please limit the size of each zipped folder to 50mb. If your submission is larger than 50 mb, please split it into separate zipped folders to help control download times. If you have more than one zipped folder, name them in this manner: To zip files place all your elements and a TOU inside a folder, then zip that folder. This is automatically creates a folder containing your files in whatever folder the user unzips to.Your MS username_DC#_folderletter There are many ways to compress (zip) a folder. You can use a program such as WINZIP/WINRAR or, if you are on a Windows operating system, there is a utility built into Windows that you can use.
Uploading Submissions: We will be utilizing DropITtoME to collect submissions this month. When you are ready to submit you items, send frogfish (Christina) a PM for the link and password. Don't worry, it's super easy and I will receive your submission immediately (no waiting to download). Disclaimer: The completed kit will be added to the MouseScrappers store for anyone to purchase. All proceeds from the sale of the kit will be used to keep MouseScrappers running. Every month you participate in this challenge, you will receive the resulting design challenge collaboration kit (for that month) free of charge, but will receive no compensation (monetary or otherwise) for your submission to the challenge or for the sale of the collaboration kit. Any and all proceeds from the sale of the completed kit go to MouseScrappers. Copyright of your submission remains with you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. You DON'T have to be a designer; anyone can do this! The more people who participate, the bigger the monthly kit will be!

Very excited for this theme Just be careful not copy anyone else's work (Project Life or otherwise), and likewise be careful not to encroach on Project Mouse - Britt is a long time supporter of MS! But there still tons of things you could do so put your creative thinking cap on If you are bit stuck, there are some commercial use products out there to give you a jump start. I know Connie Prince has a few (I bought some and still haven't used them yet!) Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Thanks, Christina!

Christina, I'm guessing the park names (Epcot, Magic Kindom, etc) and areas (Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, etc) are no-nos, right?
If that won't work, I'll do a transportation themed minikit!

Trying to think of something that hasn't been done in journal cards before. I think I'll try shopping as a theme.
