Well, I can’t really afford Manfrotto, but I know they are one of the best brands. You know who would be a good person to ask is Mark Barbieri. He was one of the first MS members here as I have been so impressed with his work (he posted a bunch of AK photos). But he hasn’t been on the site in a really long time. I think he’d love to answer questions about photography, especially about Manfrotto since I think he has one (if not several) of their tripods - I think it is a brand he has a lot of confidence in. I would suggest sending him a PM… maybe mention that we love his photos and hope he’ll share some more again with us soon.

I use a gorilla pod - it has the advantage that if you use it, you can brace it against your shoulders for steadier shots...
Other than that - what about a mono-pod - they might also work.. No tripods at Tokyo Disney since 2008... *For the safety of all Guests, taking photos or videos while using unipods, tripods, hard carrying cases, or other such equipment is not allowed. Please refrain from bringing such equipment into the Park. Disneyland policy: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/parks/#/parks-q12 •Professional cameras and recording equipment are NOT permitted. I assumed that they were since I see a ton of photos on Flickr from die-hard photogs who go into the park late at night when few people are there - they have long exposures that require the use of a tripod (and a bunch of them talk about using them on DIS). I also saw someone's photo of their (very tall) tripod setup outside the castle (waiting for Wishes). But I went and searched Disney.com for the word 'tripod', and found mostly hits on Disneyland (like the one Lynnette shared), but I couldn't find a similar statement about Disney World. I would think that the guideline posted for DL would probably be similar for Disney World - ones that fold and can fit in a backpack. Just don't set it up in a place that might be dangerous (where people might trip over it) and don't interfere with other guests' experience and I'm sure you will be fine. But if still concerned, you could try calling or writing Disney.

I used a lightweight 4 ft tripod in Sept/Oct and then in Nov last year. No one gave it a 2nd glance. It folds to approx 18 inches... and I carried it over my shoulder/or stashed in a locker til I wanted it. It did not fit in a backpack. I took it into MK, DHS, and Epcot. I used it at the Wishes Dessert Party and MNSSHP too.
I'm thinking a monopod or tabletop tripod for this trip. Because even though I got much better photos...lugging a tripod is a pain in the neck! |
