If that doesn't work, try this...
(using PSE)
- Select the Magic Eraser tool (right click on the eraser in order to see the different erasers available)
- 'erase' the white areas by clicking on them - you'll see a checkerboard pattern.
- click "Save for Web", select one of the PNG options, make sure "Transparency" is checked, then click OK.
