DVC Fraudulent Letter/Phone Call Advisory

We could use more activity in this forum (hint ;)). If any of you hear news that other DVC members might like to hear, please post a message here. Some of us (myself included) don't check the member site (or dvcnews.com) too regularly, and may not catch all the articles in the magazine - so the additional mention on MS would be helpful. Thanks!

I just read this on the member site

Quote:

Fraudulent Letter/Phone Call Advisory

Disney Vacation Club Members who receive a suspicious phone call or letter from someone purporting to be from Disney Vacation Club or RCI should not give the person any information if they doubt that the person is an authorized Disney Cast Member or RCI employee. In addition, they should report the letter or phone call to their State Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission.

Members may confirm whether or not the call or letter is from a Disney Cast Member by calling Disney Vacation Club at 800-800-9800 and verifying the information with a Cast Member. In addition, Members may confirm information with RCI by calling 877-968-7476.

Members are always welcome to contact Disney Vacation Club or RCI to verify the validity of a contest or offer.

Protect Yourself against timeshare scams, be informed.

If you are considering a timeshare purchase and looking on websites, please make sure the site you are on has clearly noted that they are licensed Real Estate Brokers. If you do not see that disclaimer as one of the very first items you see, get off of that site immediately. They are most likely marketing companies, with no licensure, promoting "for sale by owners" with massive up front fees from those sellers. If they are not clearly a licensed Real Estate broker earning a commission at closing, but rather asking, you the seller, for money to advertise, you will be yet another victim of the timeshare industry scourge of unlincensed people praying in the uninformed.

:yeah:
