Knotts Berry Farm - to lose last ties with Knott Family?

I just came across some interesting articles about Knott's Berry Farm, and the potential sale of its parent company (Cedar Fair) to a new owner. This sale would sever the last remaining ties to the Knott family (the existing shareholders would be bought out). If I am reading this right, it sounds like one of Knott's grandsons is for this, while another is against it.

You just never know how new owners will affect the operations of a theme park - it's not always a good thing.

OOh - I love Knott's! I've hated what they've done to it over the years, but then they've had to content with keeping up with Disney and 6 flags. It would be sad to see this happen, because I feel that it would loose even more of its roots. Oh well.

March 16 is the date set for the vote on whether the Cedar Fair Entertainment Co., the parent company of Knottā€™s Berry Farm, should be purchased and taken private by asset manager Apollo Global Management.

There was an article in our paper today since CF owns Dorney Park here in Allentown.

Just an update... Cedar Fair named a new president... he is a former president of Disneyland. It sounds like this is a positive sign for Knott's Berry Farm as he wants to preserve the history, yet bring in new things - especially for the younger crowd.

I don't know anything about Knotts Berry Farm, but on one of the podcasts I listen to, they LOVE the guy who was named president. The host has talked about him many times before, and how when he left Disney, it was a real loss. He said everything he touches turns to gold. So, I also think that's a pretty good sign for the park.

So glad to hear about him! I grew up just 20 mins from Knott's and I'd hate to see it lose everything.

Hopefully this is very good news for the park. It's REALLY gone downhill over the years. I grew up around the corner from the park and we used to go all the time. The last time we went was in 2004 and we got free tickets. Good thing, for we were so disappointed and left after having lunch--food was still good.
