25 Jun 2010. Pirate and Pals event. This was the best event we have ever done. We had dinner reservations at Chef Mickey for 6:55 so we could eat just before the event. After dinner we went back to the room to put on our pirate gear! Arh!! We then proceeded down to the 2nd floor of the Contemporary and checked in for our Pirate and Pals Adventure. Check in was at 8:45 pm. The lobby was very crowded as there we two boats going out. One for hook and one for Smee. We were on the Smee boat. Our ship captains came out promptly at 9:00 pm to escort us into a welcome area with snacks and a photo opportunity with Hook and Smee. We’ll when we entered it didn’t take long for Adrianna to figure out where the characters would be with the backdrop against the far wall. Off she went to be first in line and of course within 2 minutes they entered the room and Adrianna and John Wesley were first. John Wesley immediately found the snacks and drinks to include cotton candy, chips, pretzels and peanuts. Oh yes and Chocolate coins for the mateys! We were in this holding room for about 30 minutes before our Captains came back into the room. They announced that all those traveling on Hooks boat to go to the left side and all those going on with Smee to go to the right. Well Adrianna and John Wesley were right up front with Patch the trusty Captain. He immediately made Adrianna his first mate and put her in charge of leading the way with Smee and the Smee Flag. WOW…Mom was so excited. We all followed Adrianna, John Wesley and Smee out the door, down the escalator and out the back door to the dock. We stopped briefly at the center topiary for a picture of Adrianna, John Wesley, Patch and Smee. We made our way down the dock where we said good bye to Hook and Smee. We were in row 8 which meant we sat in row three on the left side. We made our way out to the Wilderness Lodge to watch the Water Parade which was so cool to watch it from a different perceptive. We then headed out to the seven seas lagoon for the firework show. Now throughout our journey Patch our trusty Captain was telling jokes and entertained us all. John Wesley found him especially funny as he does love comedy. He asked for birthday’s which we pointed out John Wesley 10, and Adrianna 7 as well as other guests. He made those with anniversary’s stand up and waltz. The fireworks began. Since we were on the left side our view was through the boat but it was still a wonderful view. When it first started Adrianna was sitting in the aisle and as Patch walked by to go to the front Adrianna told him she couldn’t see. He stated she could come up front with him if it was alright. Shoot I couldn't stop her. She went promptly up front and sat with Patch who gave her his pirate hat to wear the entire time. As I looked up there to keep an eye on her she was talking him to death as well and the boat Captain. When the first works ended Adrianna found no need to return to her seat. On our trip back to the dock we played trivia. John Wesley LOVES trivia so this was perfect for him. He’s so funny because he always thinks he knows the answer and raises his hand high with excitement but then turns to Neil for the answer. Adrianna was Vanna as she selected prizes out of the treasure chest for those that answered questions correctly. She loved every minute of being the first mate. She was so darn cute although she totally thought she was in charge! We finally made it close to the dock and our Trivia was over so Adrianna had to return the pirate hat to Patch and find her way back to her seat. Who should we find as we docked but Peter Pan waiting for us? WooHoo! He told us to find him at the Mickey Topiary and he would be waiting for us for photos. As we departed Patch stated she was precious and quite the talker! Arh! We walked back down the dock and did our meet and greet with Peter Pan. It was an amazing Pirate and Pals event. Definitely a once in a lifetime Pirate mates selection, sitting up front with Patch to watch the fireworks and then assisting him with prizes. I don't think that happens on every cruise. We LOVED it and John Wesley asked if he could do it again for his birthday or for Spring Break he enjoyed it that much.
