What are the 'points' I see below my avatar?

MouseScrappers earn points by being active members of the site. Most points earned will come from posting messages on the site, but you can also earn points in other ways, too:

To see what points you've earned, go to your User Control Panel, click on the "Your Profile" link in the left column (near the top), and then click on the "Experience" tab. Note that we are currently not using the "Levels" feature (so ignore 'level', 'level up' and 'points needed').

You can redeem your points in the "Shop". Pick up icons like these   for your signature. Check the shop periodically for new icons. You can also give away the items you get from the shop (if you want to give a little gift to someone else). If you no longer want an icon, you can sell it back to the shop.

How do I get an icon next to my user name?

You may have noticed a small icon like this by the user name of certain members. These Awards are given to very active members. The system periodically calculates and awards these designations to members (administrators/moderators have no control over who gets which award). There is only one instance of each award (so the system will take the designation away from one member and give it to another at calculation time)

*Note: The Experience system is not perfect. It was written by a programmer who allowed it to be downloaded and installed free of charge for use with vBulletin. He no longer supports it, so we will have to live with the minor bugs in the system. Hopefully this will not prevent from you enjoying this fun little site feature.
